International Tennis Federation (ITF) Standards: Adaptable to Any Context

We use ITF Tennis Play and Stay / Tennis10s standards (Red/Orange/Green ball stages), providing guidance on how to adapt them to local resources:

    • Injury Prevention (ITF-aligned): Focus on proper technique, warm-ups, core/shoulder stability, footwork and equipment sizing to prevent common junior overuse injuries (shoulder, elbow, back) — adaptable for grass courts, asphalt, clay or indoor facilities.
    • Safe Participation & Safeguarding: ITF Safeguarding Children Policy, “Duty of Care” and “Recognise & Remove” protocols designed to meet strict child safety laws while remaining practical for school environments.
    • Age-Grade Umpiring (Match Management): A modular framework for primary school officiating — from modified Mini Tennis (Red ball, smaller courts) through to standard U10 rules.
    • Safeguarding & Child Protection (UNICEF Aligned): Ensuring child protection compliance and fostering an inclusive environment in any jurisdiction.

Our Philosophy: “The Love of the Game”

For U5–U10, we prioritise the “Active Start” and “Fundamentals” phases (ITF Tennis Play and Stay):

  • Physical Literacy: Developing agility, balance, and coordination (ABC) through tennis-specific movement (rallies, footwork, modified play).
  • Inclusion: Ensuring every child, regardless of size or skill level, gets equal game time and coaching attention.
  • Character Building: Teaching the core values: Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Fair Play, and Enjoyment.
  • Gender Equality & Inclusion: Strong alignment with UN SDG 5, ensuring equal coaching quality and resource allocation for girls and boys’ tennis.
